Samsung Galaxy s4 Bluetooth will not connect. Wifi cuts off constantly
BJHEADRICK1946

At first my wifi would not stay connected. I have wifi at home. I sit literally 15 feet from my modem and router. My Bluetooth hardly ever switches itself over as I have it set to do. And when I manually connect the wifi. It still shuts it self off over and over. My Bluetooth will not connect. When I slide the Bluetooth button over it stays in the turning on Bluetooth for a minute. Then back to off. I have heard this is a constant problem with the lollipop upgrade. I'm so frustrated. Someone help. I've tried to upgrade to another phone. But I'm still in contract. So I'm stuck. My wife's phone is still running kit Kat. As I do wish mine was. He's has had no issues whatsoever.

I just have to ask because you didn't include it in your list of fixes; you'd be surprised how many people don't try it, myself included sometimes.

I think you just need to factory reset your phone and not back up app data or restore. If you have apps not linked to say Facebook or your G-mail then you'll lose that information. Candy Crush for instance, if you aren't linked in through Facebook and factory reset you'll be back at level 1.

Typically a factory reset will solve your problems, it won't put you back to kitkat, but on my S5 I had to do one, and then a week later one more and now it's functioning as it should.

Try going into settings, applications, application manager, all (scroll left to get to all), Bluetooth and delete the cache and data and restart your device.

You'll have to sync whatever Bluetooth devices you had already done before, but see if that helps.

No luck. Cleared all the cache and memory from the Bluetooth. Restarted

still no Bluetooth. When you switch the Bluetooth on it sits about to come

on. Then the switch returns to the off position.

I also mentioned that I was continously kicked off my WiFi. I have read

that this issue is inherent in the galaxy s4 since the lollipop update. As

I said. My wife has not accepted her lollipop update and is still running

kitkat without incidence. Her WiFi works flawlessly and her Bluetooth does

as well.

When you say cache and memory, that included deleting the data?

It sounds like you might need to do a factory reset. You'd want to make sure to back up contacts, pictures, messages etc. Anything you want to keep.

Yes I deleted the data as well. And my WIFI will not stay connected. And

does not connect automatically when I get home. As it should. No matter how

many times I reconnect my WiFi manually. It disconnects a short time

after.

Have you unplugged your modem and router, waited a few minutes, plugged the router back in, wait for it to light up, then plug in the router and tried again?

Yes I have. If it helps. I'm not a complete newbie. But I have come to

absolutely despise the new lollipop OS. As I mentioned my wife's phone is

not experiencing any of these problems. And Samsung admits the new OS isn't

exactly compliant with the S4. I'd pay for an S5 or 6 in a second. But

under contract I'm not allowed an "upgrade" until my contract is fulfilled.

I'm not going to tolerate this ridiculous standard of faulty equipment

operation for the next year. I'll change carriers if I can't get some help.

I know it isn't your fault. I'm just venting. And again the wifi is one

issue. The Bluetooth is another. I have a brand new $100 Bluetooth earpiece

I can't even use. Due to faulty equipment.
