Samsung Galaxy Stellar Hotspot Error "Could Not Connect AM Server?"

I have a samsung galaxy stellar, and i am trying to connect my mobile hotspot.  I have the phone connected to my laptop, and i have "allow all devices" set.  Every time I try to turn on the hotspot I get a message "checking subscription status" ... then I get "could not connect to AM server".  Can someone tell what that error is and how I fix it?

Hello tndinnc! I'm excited to see that you're wanting to use Mobile Hotspot on your Stellar. If you're still experiencing this issue, please turn WiFi off in the device settings and wait for the phone to acquire a mobile data connection prior to turning on tethering. That should resolve it.
