Well much to my surprise, it does not appear to have done anything harmful to my phone.  Battery life seems fine/no real change, phone isn't sluggish or doing anything odd that I can sense, all my apps are back on there including one GPS app that runs in the background 24x7.

One thing I did per some other comments was wipe the phone entirely before doing the upgrade.  I literally didn't even setup an account on the phone or change a single setting before doing the upgrade after resetting and clearing the cache.

So far so good.   Almost feel bad about being so skeptical now.

Wish I could say the same. Had the 2nd half shoved up my *** a few days

ago. Multiple freezes, battery pulls, app crashes and somewhat slower

overall. Battery not as good bit not as bad as some. Has turned my moto 360

into an overpriced bracelet after 1pm though.

If there was at least something new, useful or even just cool in this

update maybe I could deal with a temporary quirk or 2 but this thing is a

joke.

I'm wondering why I can clear my cache and my phone seems to work quite well for about a day. Does anyone know why this may be? It works great and everything responds like it's supposed to but always goes back to crap!

Same issues here.  VERIZON the most costly provider in the US will get 1 chance today to get this corrected. 21 yeas with the same phone number, was with them b4 they were Verizon,  was a company called cellular 1.  Just 1 chance.

Relax cowboy, Verizon didn't develop this terrible update everyone is dealing with. I'll laugh when you have the same problems with another carrier or even a different android smartphone. You're having problems with the PHONE and SOFTWARE......NOT Verizon. Samsung manufactured the phone, there's a difference there.....

I look at life a little more simply; I pay verizon for both the product and

service and it is Verizon who does not give me a choice about the upgrade.

The update is different for each service provider based on their networks,

bloatware etc. One couldn't take a sprint lollipop upgrade and apply it to

a Verizon phone. It's a bit disingenuous to point the finger at Samsung.

Lollipop has been either native or an upgrade to a lot of different devices

from different manufacturers without these issues. While I haven't looked

around at posts, I'd be more than willing to garner a little wager that

lollipop on the latest flagship Galaxy S6 does not have these issues.

Verizon certainly did not validate this and continues to be painfully slow

to fix a update they forced on their customers.

I do like Verizon's service and network and have been a loyal customer for

25+ years. I will say that my daughter has a 2+ year old S3 that has been

flashed onto a byod network. It's the same network and coverage but NO

UPDATES.

Her S3 runs like the day it came out of the box after 2+ years of fairly

heavy use. My 11 year old laughs at me when I have to pull the battery on

the S5 because it froze. She doesn't know what a cache clear is nor a hard

reset.

If some large corporate customers were to realize the cost and operational

savings of a byod network, VZW would certainly take notice. Us retail peons

really don't have any real say here.

I think this version of Lollipop that has been pushed onto everyone has Google-admitted memory leaks. That may be one potential reasons. Otherwise, it could be a program that isn't working exactly correct with Lollipop.

I don't care who they want to blame.

I pay Verizon for my bill.

I paid Verizon for my phone.

I have to pay Verizon if I fail to complete the contracts.

5 Months without a working phone and the best Verizon can say to me...tough

luck it's samsungs problem.

I want as far away from this ridiculous company as possible.
