Samsung Droid (Continuum) Help: Contact Groups

So I recently just got the Samsung Continuum and am still figuring things out. I had them transfer over my Contact list to the new phone but I guess there's a difference between your contacts being part of your PHONE BOOK and your GMAIL CONTACTS (even though they all still show up in your contacts list). Since I couldn't put most of my contacts into groups via my phone, I have them situated online via g-mail.

Q: How do I get the contacts (with the groups) synced onto my cell without having to delete the contact and then remaking it but in the PHONE BOOK option?

Q: do I have to buy a separate memory card for the phone or should there be one in the Continuum already? (if that's a even a possible issue)

I tried connecting it through to my Macbook Pro, and went through the Debugging, docking, etc process but my comp still doesn't want to read my cell as a possible reader.. Thoughts? :smileysad:

I'm guessing here since they are from the same manufacturer. A search of the Fascinate forum might yield some answers.
I thought the phone came with an SD card. At least a 2 gb one.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have provided some information below that may help.

Question 1: Contact groups can be synchronized to the device by using Gmail. If you currently have your contacts in another client other than Gmail, I would recommend exporting the contacts as a .CSV, and importing them into Gmail. (Instruction below)

http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=27523

After this step it would be recommended to check the Gmail Synchronization (Instruction below)

Question 2: The Samsung Continuum has a pre-installed 8GB microSD card.

Connecting Issue – In connecting with the Macbook Pro I have provided the steps below:

Step 1 – Enable USB Mass store mode on the device

-Press Menu

-Select Settings

-USB settings

-USB  mode (ensure Mass Storage is selected)

Step 2 – Connect the device to the Mac using the supplied USB cable.

Step 3 – Enable USB Debugging Mode (Instruction article below)

Mass Storage Mode (ensure in the notification bar you select the Mount option)

(Instruction article below)

HI, Javimon

Not sure what you mean.  I had a Droid so flying half-blind.  There are different scenarios you may be describing: 1) Contacts set up on phone but not in Gmail (you could do this on Droid ) or 2) Display option where your contact list displays only those with telephone numbers.

If you CAN do the first and want to, I think the below does it.  But IF that's the case, they wouldn't sync to gmail and may be lost unless you are also using backup assistant (if that''s a feature of Continuum).  To keep it simple and in case the phone was erased, I didn't have any contacts separate.

2. At the Save contact to prompt, touch Phone to save the

account to your Contacts only, or touch an account for

synchronizing the contact (available options depend on the

accounts you have set up for synchronization).

If you are talking about SHOWING only telephone # contacts on your phone and not email-only contacts from gmail, etc, you can do this:

Contacts Display Options
1. From the Home screen, touch  Contacts.
2. Touch  Menu ➔ Display options to set these options:
• Touch Only contacts with phones to restrict display to contacts
with phone numbers.
• Touch Phone to choose contacts for display by group, then select
groups for display.
• Touch an account to choose display categories.
3. Touch  to save options.
I would not think you would have to delete and recreate any contacts.  Do the group labels you created on the phone and gmail correspond?  I do not know if labels themselves sync (eg a group with no members).  Test it out and see.  Either way, if the group label is on gmail and not on phone, create it on the phone or vice versa. Then a sync should properly assign all your contacts to their respective groups where your phone and gmail match.  Hope this helps and that the other posts answered your other questions.
