SIM Number Theft

Since Verizon doesn't offer a direct means of communicating with them, i.e. customer support, I'm offering a comment here.  Is anyone else considering turning in their phone to avoid the risk of someone stealing your phone number and transferring it to another phone and then using that phone to hack into all of your peronsal information?

No.  Explain how that makes any sense?   The point of having a phone number is to prevent hacking of financials.  Without some kind of 2 step, they are very hackable.  Email is hackable.  I also have back up methods.
