S5 has wiped itself while sitting locked in my pocket

This has happened twice to me in the past month.  The first time I was in an area with no WiFi and I had my data turned off.  Both cases the phone was locked, requiring a six digit code to unlock...unlikely that it was unlocked randomly.

This COULD happen if someone knew your log in info for Android Device Manager and could send a command to erase, lock, or ring your phone.  Maybe unlikely, but possible.

Even when my phone was not on WiFi and the data was turned off?  Not that I think that anyone would do that.

Well, the command is sent and when the phone is in data range or wifi is on it activates.  It was just an idea, it happens more than you think.  That's why I use a 2-step verification process on my Google account.  However, I just read another post about a customers phone rebooting and erasing the SD photos.
