Rumored HTC Phablet--VZW's answer to the Note? ...will you be interested?

The best extrapolation I've read from BGR's rumor "leak" thus far:

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/334159/20120427/htc-phablet-samsung-galaxy-note-verzion-razr.htm

Not quite as big a screen, but pretty stunning performance specs otherwise.  Do you think it''ll arrive as spec'd?  Would the specs sway you from "jumping ship" for the Note?  What do you think?

I would show some interest over the note because I prefer HTC devices over others and if the hardware specs is comparable I would look at it as a replacement device.

What do you like about them? I was a Motorola fan long ago and in recent years I've been a Samsung fanatic (really love the engineering and build quality in both cases).  If this rumor pans out I'd be looking at shifting "brand loyalties" once again--what does HTC have going for them that I could feel comfortable with such a decision?

This is just my opinion of HTC..

1.Devices are better designed (I can get into the boxed look of Motorola devices)

2.Sense UI is more user friendly and easier to develop for. They released regular SDK updates to allow users to develop 3rd party software

3. Samsung are bad for updating devices, fixes and OS upgrades are slim and none.

4. Sound quality seems better that the other manufactures I have used.

5. Samsung has history of weak radios which leads to poor reception. Haven't seen this with any of my HTC devices.

This is just a quick list of things I prefer...  Not all feels the same but each to thier own opinion.

I *can* corroborate getting updates for my Fascinate was a serious pain in the tush--no wonder so many people flocked to XDA to get updates.  Smiley Sad

I wonder about the radio--my experience has been it works O.K. to be functional--but I have had my share of dropped calls and intermittent data connections.

Hmmm...you're swaying me already--and just on a "rumored" device, no less.  If something like this came out with a decent audio chipset (like the excellent Wolfson DAC some of the other manufacturers are using) I'd be sold in an instant!

How's display quality on the HTC devices?

(And comparisons between brands is O.K. in this thread, btw--I think it's relevant to the "Samsung -vs- HTC" part of my question--just keep things factual and respectful, please.  )

Samsung screen is better for being brighter and crisper but I have noticed a blueish tint on their screens and this never interest me...   Their screens are good quality but I still prefer my HTC screen because I simply think the colors are truer and doesn't look like everything is glowing.

I lost one of my eyes years ago and I need a screen that I can view in different lighting situation and HTC was better for me.

I, myself, am an LG fan. All their phones, for me, have been terrific, including my latest, the LG Spectrum. I had an HTC Rezound for a few days, unfortunately, it was the only phone I've ever owned, dumb or smart, which dropped calls about as often as people drop hot potatoes. One phone that I owned which I know I'll never own another one of their phones, is the Blackberry. I had two of them, both for short periods of time. Oh well! I did give them a second try. But as you said, Wildman, and I agree, is to each his own. Some people actually do like Motorola phones. I did like my Droid X and my Droid 2 but what I have read on the forum, I am not interested in the Razr, not even the maxx.

Actually I haven't used many LG devices to draw any opinion of the devices...  I have heard a few users reported similar situations with the Rezound but since I haven't had any issues with reception but not all devices from a manufacture are created equal but HTCs new radios has been incredible in my area and I cant complain.

i loved the LG line of envy's, honestly, if i was getting a non smart phone today, i would buy a used envy touch online. 3 years old and still blows away any new basic phone out there. but their androids seem to be slightly lower end than some of the top high end androids. the spectrum does look nice though.
