I have an Galaxy S3 and I dropped it and the screen shattered and the screen is now black and I can't see anything and I have been getting text messages, so when the replacement comes tomorrow, will I be able to read these unread messages?

You will not be able to read the messages, because they have already arrived on the old phone. That would be amazing though!

You can only read these messages with a court ordered subpoena, however you can at least check who sent the messages on your myverizon account at least.

Go under MyVerizon, after you're logged in and it says, "Welcome you're the account owner," click usage details under your phone number, then click text message details, there's your text messages!

Correct. SIM cards do not hold info, they only provide the connection to the device, unless you force it tosave some contacts (very limited).

I would suggest making sure you power off the old device (it doesn't sound like it's usable anyway), that way, the texts that do get sent your way will show up on the new phone once it gets activated. As long as the old phone is powered up, it will continue to receive anything sent to it.
