Razr email application
mikeawhitehead

Just picked up my new Razr yesterday - traded in an iPhone 4s, and I don't miss it a bit!  Except for a little email problem.  I've added my hotmail and gmail account to the phone.  Sent my first message to a friend this afternoon, and it went thru without any text.  When I received their response, they said 'what's wrong', as they had received a blank message from me.  I used my Razr to forward their response to my gmail account, and when I received the email it didn't have anything text in the body of the email either.  I removed my hotmail account, re-added it, and tried sending an email to my gmail account again.  Once again, there was nothing in the body of the message.  Maybe it's a fluke, but is anybody else having similar issues?  otherwise, I truly do love the phone.  Thanks!!

I'm having an email problem as well. My yahoo accounts are not syncing like they did on my Droic X. Even though I read and deleted the messages on my computer, they still show up new and unread on the Razr.

I had a similar problem until I stopped using the email icon on the home screen.  In the app screen I switched to the gmail icon and now it works great.  If I delete on computer it is also off the phone

mikeawhitehead and community, we know how important emails are to your communication and we are investigating this issue in great detail. We are also consumers and it is affecting us as well so we are definitely concerned. We found this issue was reported by multiple customers and the issue has been lifted up to our product development team. They have identified it as a server issue and we are working to resolve it. We have currently found that customers who download the email application from the marketplace are successful with their emails until we find a resolution. Listed below are steps to download from the marketplace.

  1. From a Home screen, select the App menu (located in the lower right).

  2. Select Market.
Note If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
Note If presented, review the Android Market Terms of Service then select Accept to continue.

Listed below are steps to download applications from marketplace

  1. Select Apps.

  2. Swipe left or right to sort by the following:

    • CATEGORIES

    • FEATURED

    • TOP PAID

    • TOP FREE

    • TOP GROSSING

    • TOP NEW PAID

    • TOP NEW FREE

    • TRENDING

  3. If applicable, select a category (e.g. GAMES, COMICS, COMMUNICATION, etc.).

  4. Select an application.

  5. Select Install.
If there is a charge for the application, select the price (e.g. $1.99).

  6. Select Accept & download / buy.
If applicable, ensure the appropriate method is selected (above Accept & buy). If a payment method has not been established, navigate Add payment method > Add card, enter the credit card information then select Save.
Review the required application permissions. If they are not acceptable, select the Back key (located to the right of the Home key).

If that is the case, then I'm kinda disapointed in Verizon's testing of their devices. How could it have gone through the testing phases and have this issue not been found by someone? This is a pretty basic function of the device, and yet nobody in the development phases or afterwards had an issue with email?

 How is that possible?

Can you also work to resolve the problem using Corporate Sync (for Exchange users) on Android 2.3.3 and above devices?  There are many who can't seem to sync work email with exchange servers and i've not seen any one solution which seems to work.  Some have had luck with a few third party apps such as Touchdown, but that's not working for us all.

Thanks!

I've only had my RAZR for a few days/ the email apps were loaded by the Verizon Rep - both Gmail and Hotmail...Neither account will send the text bodies and send out 'blank' emails....

I also added the Yahoo app through the "Market".  It is a free download  BUT, today is SUNDAY, I purchased the Razr on WEDNESDAY, and today after my third phone call, and fourth tech reponthe phone, I got through this "fix"....of cours at about the sametime I found this thread.  In the "information" age, it is remarkable that Verizon has been aware, concerned, and informed about this "fix, and neither my sales person, NOR the first THREE tech people I talked to were aware of the issue or the "fix".  Otherwise, I think I like the phone, getting acquainted with it's idiosynchracies, it would just be great if there were some knowledgeable experts to go to....or get to easily.
