Hi,
I have Galaxy S4 with valid contract and Asrion insurance.
Phone was damaged recently and I'm looking into replacing it.
Asrion has deductible of $99, but I was told I can purchase replacing phone by myself.
Do I need to replace with the exact same device, or can I go for Galaxy S5 instead of S4?
Thank you,
Kayo

Upgrades are not an option through your insurance program. If you want to upgrade, you will need to contact Verizon Wireless. You can only get equal replacement value from your insurance.

They gave me a different (upgraded) phone once a long time ago during a replacement. It was a lucky moment! That was only because they no longer stocked my phone that got broken. Nowadays, I think they keep plenty of stock and you aren't going to have that happen. Especially with an S4.

Great. I understand that I need to replace with the same model.
Now, according to Asurion's website, I need to pay $99 for replacement, but
I can get it cheaper.
How do I claim the damage and not use their replacement???
thank you,
Kayo

Are you saying that you will buy your own S4 for less than $99 and want to use it with your Verizon service?

Yes, if that's allowed.

You don't have to claim anything. Just use your upgrade if you want to do that.

Yes - I believe it's allowed as long as it is a Verizon phone (compatible with Verizon). I'd speak with Customer Service to make sure before taking the leap though.
