No Wifi calling

I recently purchased a LG G6 for myself and a LG K20 (for my wife).  The LG K20 connected to wifi calling with no problems.  My LG G6 is another issue.  It would not connect to Wifi calling with the message, "Unable to activate wi-fi calling at this time.  Please try again later".  Many many many many times later since no wifi calling.  Doesn't even go to the 911 address screen.  Followed the instructions to the letter.  BTW, there is no cell service here in the hills.

1. Did you verify phone software is up-to-date?

2. Did you verify that Advanced Calling is turned on in the phone settings?

Yes & Yes.  I'm a retired tech and I know how to follow instructions and do research.  I tried asking LG but got put in "Wait" [Removed] so I deleted the chat.

I would advise you to do this. Call customer service. They can do two things. 1: They can troubleshoot the device and send out a replacement using the warranty if they can't fix it. 2: They can send out what's called a network extender. It connects to your WiFi router but your phone sees it as like a mini cell tower, meaning no wifi calling needs to be set up. Best of all, if they see or you convince them that you have bad coverage, they usually send the network extender out free of charge. Make sure you get the 4g lte one if you have advanced calling on, which in sure your G6 already does have.

Hope this helps and hope you can get this fixed sooner or later,

J.

Just to clarify, the network extender doesn't need lte coverage at all to work. It relies on your WiFi router. An added bonus of using the network extender is that while wifi calling drops the call when you loose the wifi connection say if you leave your house, the network extender should hand the call of to any availabile Verizon cell tower, meaning no dropped calls. Remember to ask about getting it free of charge as you pay for better service with Verizon, but you are getting bad coverage in your home.

I'm well aware that wifi calling depends upon my router and not cell service in my area.  I guess you missed the part that my wife's LG K20 worked just fine doing wifi calling......I set it up BTW.

I was saying that the network extender doesn't need coverage to work. It creates coverage. The network extender is basically wifi calling except it doesn't require any extra setup on your phone, as it connects to the network extender just like it does a cell tower. I did fully understand that the other lg worked, but this is a better option if there is a phone that doesn't connect to wifi calling for whatever reason. But good to hear that you got it to set up.

We know how important it is to always be able to use great features like Wi-Fi calling. We want to help get that feature working for you.

Since trying to activate that feature on your phone, have you tried activating it at another location while connected to Wi-Fi instead of your home? Does your phone connect to your Home Wi-Fi with no issues?

The G6 does connect to my home network.  Haven't tried another wifi location.  Will try next week at the verizon store.

I've tried activating my LG V30 on several networks and all I ever get is the "This may take a few moments..." then "unable to activate Wi-Fi calling at this time.  Please try again later".  Yes, I've tried several networks.  Yes I followed the instructions (can't get past clicking on "Activate Wi-Fi Calling" then getting the errors).  Yes I've tried "factory resetting" the phone. I guess it just isn't in the cards for me.
