Was just told in a chat that Nexus 6 would be out January 2nd. Unsure on how reliable it is since the 13th was rumored to be told from a verizon sales person as well.

I certainly wouldn't trust a guess made by a VZW rep that wouldn't have access to phone release dates before they are officially announced. Besides even they did know something, divulging it before they were supposed to could mean the loss of their job.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You are still paying full retail in the grand scheme of things.

It doesn't matter if you want the phone you'll figure a way to get the phone.  Why bother waiting?  You can put the phone on a payment plan with Motorola, and even if you can get it on contract price how long are you willing to wait for the device?  EVERYWHERE is on backorder at least 1 month(Motorola and Google) if you can be lucky to put on in your cart and actually purchase it over wednesday.  Now if you go with a carrier and try and purchasing it.  You'll wait minimum so far from what I have seen purchasing this month February time frame.

The Galaxy Nexus is unlocked,  You can unlock the M8.  You can also purchase dev versions of the phone.

Anyway wish you the best of luck.

lol a Month? I can walk into a T-mobile store and walk out with one the today. You can order one on Motorola (MB 32gb) today and get it shipped and delivered before christmas. I don't know where you get your facts from but it seems like every post you say at least a month of backordered. I even went into a sprint store yesterday and they had 4 of them in stock.

Then why don't you buy them then if they are available people are willing to pay more than what they are worth. Also people have been frantically trying to buy them all over the web.

I would hold off. They are having issues with the phone. You wanted this long, whats, another month. I believe that January will be the date for VZ to launch the phone, when the bugs are out.

So buy it from the Google Play store or Motorola as stated about 100 times in this thread. Do it or be gone

First of all, they are not on back order, call Google.  Secondly, the "engineers" at Verizon "have to be 100% sure that it is compatible with their network" supposedly.  Even though, since the release, it has been verified that they do in fact work on the network.  I don't think that it's completely that Verizon is missing the boat on the release, because really from a business and marketing standpoint, the Christmas season would be the ideal time to have released it.  Since Verizon are root and bootloader unlock NAZIS, they are probably having their software engineers ruin a perfectly good device by having them lock the bootloader.  I bought the Note 4 and returned it because they had Samsung make it literally impossible to acquire root without tripping knox.  When someone is paying a lot for a device, it should be their choice alone on what they do with it.  If they do release it locked, I am cancelling my service on all FIVE of my devices and going to Sprint who offered me 50% off my bill and buying out my contract to switch to them.

say that to the people who have been trying to buy them since they were released in the GPS, Motorola, and other carriers.  Sorry but even today people are not able to buy the devices on other carriers and THEIR customer boards PROVES this.

So buy it if you can order it from the place and you say it isn't on backorder...  It's right there and it'll work on Verizon and you'll get the phone you want...  Right it isn't as easy as you make it out to be.

For clarification...  Nexus devices come locked...  If it wasn't locked then you would never have to use Fastboot oem UNLOCK command.  So cancel all 5 of your lines and move to Sprint.  Also you don't get 50% off your bill it's more like 20-30% when everything is all said and done.  You must be on their payment plan in order to get that "50%" discount.

Because some of us don't have 650 bucks to blow. Gotta pay my rent and bills. Go on reddit. AT&T are shipping them overnight. My friend got one and the screen was having problems. At&t shipped him one the next day. So not everyone is waiting a month. Maybe if you ordered the Unicorn 64gb CW then yeah. But not the regular ones. Thats crazy talk.

Motorola has a financing plan... Don't want to use that then wait. Sorry if I sound like an arse, but contracts you end up paying more for a phone in the long run, and because people rely too much on that contract the current model will stay. There's always ways to offset the costs
