New to smart phones - Power question

My wife allowed her new phone to run the battery completely out. I pluged it in and tried to turn it on but it wouldn't. Is there a charging time required before it will come on even when it is plugged into the charger?

If it went completely dead, then Yes, there is a period of time before the phone will turn on. I would let charge for a minimum of four hours or more. If you can wait until it is fully charged before turning it on which ever is sooner.

Thank you to the community members for your responses. Normally if the phone's battery is completely drained you may need to charge the device for 45 minutes to an hour before it will power on.
