Good one, tikibar. KCK1962, I'd really advise downloading the manual for reference. I actually put a copy of it on my phone itself. Looking at the manual, p. 125, I see that I was off regarding adjusting the screen timeout. On the Strat II, you go from the Home screen to Apps, then Settings, etc. (since Settings is itself an app).

I'll go along with Dave and try to answer (and reanswer) your questions

1) Tap on the menu key and select Settings. Scroll to "Display" and tap on it. Scroll to "screen timeout" and select the time you like best. Keep in mind, the longer the screen stays on, the more battery usage. You'll probably find that two minutes is plenty long without eating up the battery.

2) Yes, a password for voicemail is required. As for a charge for Voicemail, that is the fancy one. The plain right-out-of-the-box version is free.

3) Unfortunately, there is no way to delete the pre-installed apps (better known as bloatware). If your phone is running on Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean you can disable them. Tap on the menu key and select Settings. Scroll down to Apps Management and on the top you will see three choices: downloaded...running...all. Move to all and scroll to each apps you wish to disable. First, you must uninstall any updates. Once this is done, you can tap on "disable."

4) It all depends upon your email server. Yahoo, Comcast and several other servers appear to have problems dealing with the Android system. If you are using hotmail, or another server like it, you probably have the wrong port numbers. Check with your server to find the proper numbers.

5) Yes, the M is for Gmail only. Email is for all others. However, I suggest going to the Play store and downloading an Email server. Most of them are free and some of them are a lot better than the stock server that comes with the phone.

6) I usually back out when I use the net without WiFi. If you have a home WiFi setup, use that. This way, you will not be using up any data.

7} The Google navigation isn't perfect, but it is free and does a fairly good job. There might be more in the Play store. You might want to check.

😎 This really depends upon your phone. You might want to look that up in the manual. You can find the manual by going to the Samsung site on your pc, and selecting the phone model you have. Go to Support and to downloads. Here you should find the users manual.

Tikibar - I didn't look yet but I don't think the phone came with an SD card. I think that was an add on for my last phone so it's probably true here also. I'll check. Thanks for the links to the manual. The enclosures that came with the phone are useless IMO. And thanks for the 365/Android link. I'll read thru it and see if it helps. I will let you know.

If you don't have an SD card (and most newer phones aren't shipping with them), you can put your media folder on your internal storage.  Yeah, those 'instruction leaflets' that come with the phone are pretty useless; you can get more info. off Verizon's support page:

First thing I do with a new phone is download the full manual and put copies on my phone and laptop.
