New User- Poor Reception

I was a loyal AT&T customer up until January 2nd when I was looking to upgrade my phone and Verizon had a better deal on data packages. I bought the Samsung Stratopshere and my reception was great the first two weeks. After that the phone had really poor signal strength. I brought the phone in and was told that it was because I was only using my 3G and a support specialist turned my 4G on. That did nothing to help the issue. I called a couple days later and had a ticket created. I was told by the tech on the phone that other people in my area complained of no reception, but that it was probably just my brand new phone and should get a refurb. I refused and told him to just create the ticket first. I was promised a phone call within 24 hours, but no phone call was ever received. The signal is getting worse and worse and I am very upset I made the switch to Verizon. Now I am stuck in this two year contract with really poor reception. I have some choice words that would describe how I feel about the company, but I am pretty sure I am not allowed to post them.

I feel your pain believe me!

Your only option may be a refurb but...a couple things to try if you haven't

Pull the battery and then reboot the phone
if that doesn't work

I don't think it could be an app that's installed but...it is possible I guess.

Worst case scenario is to hard/factory reset the phone - it's a pain but if it works, you won't have to be stuck with a refurb.

Although, I have had maby refurbs and they've all been literally like new, no scratches or any sign at all that they were pre-owned.

My reception has improved a little.  I am still having issues and no call back.

Did you try any of the suggestions I made? Do you know anyone else with VZW service in your area - if so, are they having issues?

I'd seriously look at 3rd party apps and if none of those are the culprit I'd do a hard reset...if that still doesn't do it, I'd ask for a replacement.

I have an android and traded up from Razor. I can't make calls out or pickup calls in. The phone does ring but drops when I ans it. My old Razor worked 90% of the time. Is this trading up? Pulling my hair out!!

I too have the same problem.  I can't make calls, receive calls or send texts.  My connection bars will report 3G with 2 or 3 bars and no connections.  If I get 4 bars or higher the phone works great.  My Samsung Intensity II worked flawlessly for years and now that I have "upgraded" to this Razr the core phone simply doesn't work.
