@dsart, Why did you get an iphone 5 if less then a year later you are willing to pay ETA Fee, switch carriers, and buy a new phone? Was it your first iphone?  Are you that unhappy with it?  Seems like drastic measures for someone who has a phone that is only 8 months old. Just wondering so I can eliminate it from possible options.

Looks like HTC One or Variant is on the way...the free DNA deal expires the day before CTIA.

Wow. i feel like that is pretty significant because it is being offered for free up until the day before the CTIA announcement which means they could be telling us something.

I'm still not sold on the idea of the CTIA announcement being about the One. There HAS to be a LOT more to the announcement than just a device.

I'm speculating here, but from a business perspective I'm betting their agenda looks something like this:

1. Announce how great the network and coverage is.

2. Reassure customers that Verizon is profitable, solid and continuing to grow.

3. Talk about new plans, pricing, features yada yada yada that makes us think we're getting MORE for LESS.

4. MAYBE roll out a few devices, one of which MAY be the One or a variant thereof.

Why do I say this? First, Verizon knows darn well that less than 5% of customers care about the One and maybe 50% are interested in what's new device-wise. They need to use this announcement/audience time to appeal to 99% of their customers, not those of us who are so hell-bent on getting a specific device that this thread is now 474 posts long.

Will they introduce the device? No way we'll know until it happens but I'm betting IF they do it'll be a MINOR portion of their presentation. Seriously, with the new Windows phone released yesterday and the S4 available for pre-order the day after the announcement they're NOT going to soil their own sales by suddenly offering a new hero. The S4 will sell just fine on it's own, but with all the hype and anticipation leading up to the release they're not going to downplay it with a newer, better device. That's just business, folks.

It IS quite coincidental that the DNA is free until the day before though. No denying that!

Maybe, just maybe, Verizon is reading this thread laughing at all of us and our speculation.

Who, besides me, would be willing to pre-pay for an HTC One TODAY, RIGHT NOW, if Verizon offered that to us? Like this post and let's tally the count. I'm afraid the numbers may be dismal since there are only a very small number of us on this thread.

May 22nd will probably bring a BB Q10 announcement.  Trying not to get my hopes up!

I believe they've been laughing at us before this thread was started. I'm not an early adopter, so i couldn't care less what comes down the pike. With that said, i won't begrudge those folks that want the latest tech.

By the way, my contract expires 11/29/14, so i'll at least wait until then. Who knows? Maybe someone will put out a cellphone that operates like the Hal 9000.

I agree. I will be shocked if they do announce the One on the 22nd.

The only thing that has me positive that they won't, is this new DNA free thing.

...AND why would it expire the day before? If they announce the One, they should still offer it free so people will still buy it up.

Course, remember when it disappeared from their website completely? Publicity stunt.

Just like "LlabTooFer" stirring up the pot with speculation, based on nothing and a false reputation.

One week to go.
