NOT A HAPPY VERIZON CUSTOMER at the moment!

Not a happy customer at the moment with Verizon.  I've been a customer since 2001 and have had a constant account (with Cellular One, Altell and now Verizon) - I truly need some help PLEASE if anyone out there knows how to solve my issue.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 - LOVED it.  Dropped it on the porch and the screen busted - so I immediately take it to the store and ask to have all of the information from the phone transferred to a phone I already had with the same features. ONLY my contacts were transferred.

I have about 300 pictures and videos of my family that did not transfer to Cloud - I checked.

The Verizon store is telling me that they are NOT ABLE to retrieve the photos from my phone.  My phone turns on - it connects to the computer - it gives me the option to transfer photos into a folder - and then says THERE ARE NO NEW PICTURES TO TRANSFER.

Did Verizon wipe them out?  I am heartbroken....I want my pictures.

I've been debating about changing providers for about a year now with the outrages prices charged - this is throwing me to the edge. Please tell me there is some way I could capture the pictures from my phone.  I just found out today that the plan I have provided me with 25GB of storage - and when I went into it, I only had 2 - so had there actually been 25 all of my stuff would have been on cloud and a broken phone wouldn't be an issue.....help please.

VALERIE1026 there's no need to switch, we're here to help! I know how important memories are so we'll find the best option. Do you have a memory card?

Do you use facebook on your phone? I had to upgrade a few weeks ago because my old S3 wouldn't charge. They couldn't transfer anything because they didn't have a battery to put in it to charge. I restored my contacts using Lookout but had to get my pictures from facebook. If you set your phone to sync photos automatically to facebook (I do this but set it up so the photos are synced but still private until I decide to upload them to my wall). It's worth checking out anyway!

The pictures may have been erased when the store tried the transfer. You could check the internal memory on the device they were supposed to transfer to just to make sure.

Some devices place photos in the phones storage usually a folder call DCIM or Photos or Pictures. It varies by device.

It is possible if you hook the broken one to the computer again and then open the root folders to find if the photos were saved elsewhere.

Now since I was the good guy in my top reply I will also wear the black hat. You cannot blame the carrier because you never backed up your photos regularly to a folder on your home computer.

To not do so is just plain foolish. I even take the photos and my music and back up to CDR/DVD media. Just in case my home system goes kaput.

You must take a proactive stance not a reactive one.

It would make no difference if you changed carriers. Most if not all normally tell you that you are assuming the risk for them to even attempt the procedure.

If they did not tell you, then as a smart customer you should have known there was risk.

Now on many devices if you set the gallery to save to a SD card you would simply pop out of the broken one into your computer with a reader device (many come with the USB reader) and just copy and paste to your computer. Or pop in the SD card in the new or replacement unit.

Good Luck hope it works out. Oh Verizon's cloud service is rated the worst of all cloud services. Just google it.

Thanks Elector - I do normally back them up to a Toro about once a month. Unfortunately this past weekend, took the family and some friends up to our cabin for a long weekend....took tons of videos & photos and dropped the phone on the porch of the cabin.  Yes, that is absolutely my fault.  And no, the phone does not have a memory card, just the SD card.  When I open all of the folders on my phone, it finds EVERYTHING else, but says no photos found.

Thank you  -      no, I did not purchase a memory card because I generally back it up at least once a month on my computer. It has a SD card only - but tons of pictures of icons and web site pictures are stored in there, just not my photos.... I'm wondering if I am looking in the wrong place....
