Motorola Citrus...Too many Unlock attempts

My Brother locked my phone up..

Its a Motorola Citrus and I had a pattern lock on it...when he gave it back it says

"Too many unlock attempts!" Then it tells me "To unlock, sign in with your Google account"

I am entering my correct info but yet it still says "Invalid username or password"

Whats going on? Anything I can do? Can I rest my phone? Please help!

This is pretty basic stuff and you may have already thought of this,  but...

Make sure that you are entering your name and password exactly as it was registered. as in caps/no caps, spaces, etc. And make sure that some auto-correct or auto-enter feature isn't screwing up the username and password. For instance, when I enter my username while looking at this forum from my Droid X, Swiftkey enters a space after my user name in the window, which throws off the log-in attempt. It took me several tried before I realized what Swiftkey was doing. And the keyboard you are using may cap the first letter of your name and password, which may or may not matter with your name, but it certainly will with your password.

If this doesn't help, you may have to take to the Verizon store an get them to get into it.

And threaten yer brother within an inch of his life for trying to mess with your phone....:smileyvery-happy:

Good luck, Geri O

Oh no! If you haven't gotten access to your Citrus again, I can provide you with some steps to get you back in there.

As the previous poster recommended, ensure you are entering the correct GMAIL account information. You may also need to log into GMAIL from a computer to make sure you able to get access to the account.

If you can get into GMAIL on the computer, go back to the phone. Try to power it off & double check to make sure the device is NOT in airplane mode. If it is in airplane mode, you essentially have no data connection and the phone isn't able to recognize what you are entering.

You can also try to unlock the phone, by going to this link to see if it will let you unlock the GMAIL account.

If you do not have airplane mode enabled, you have unlocked the account & you are entering the correct GMAIL information, your last resort would be an  Alternate Hard Reset

Keep in mind, a hard reset  will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. You will not lose pictures or anything that has been stored on the SD/Memory card. You will have to set the phone up again just like it is brand new.

The security pattern lock was on there for a reason (to keep people OUT).

As a security precaution, when the password lock code is entered incorrectly the phone will lock up so people don't have access to your phone's info. It's hard to say why it isn't taking the correct information on the phone.
