Moto X and Android 5

I have a Moto X 1st gen running Android 4.4.4.  When I go to System updates, it says "System update available" but when I select that it says "Your device's software is up to date".  It has done this for the past several months.  I know that Android 5 (Lollipop) has been released for the Moto X and was expecting it to show up as an update on my phone, and I believe that's what System updates is telling.  But the phone isn't getting the update.  How do I force the phone to get the pending update?  I really don't want to do a factory data reset if it can be avoided.

nreiter,

It's great that you are looking to download the update for the Moto X 1st Gen. We always want you to have the best device experience. Click on this link: http://spr.ly/6580BEYLY; to update your device this way instead. Keep us posted on the outcome.

The system update for Android 5.1 hasn't been released yet for the Moto X 2013 model.

I would suggest verifying you have the current version of 4.4.4 that was released 5/28/2015. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/moto-x-update/

I have tried both the OTA and using the Software Upgrade Assistant but OTA doesn't find the update as I described, and the SUA doesn't see my phone.  I have the phone in MTP mode.

Does anyone know when VZW will release 5.1 for the Moto X 2013 (XT1060) model?  Anxiously waiting for it...still on 4.4.4

Ask Motorola. They write the update. They know where it is at.

Motorola sent 5.1 to Verizon in late June. We are waiting on Verizon to certify it. The question is: why is Verizon taking so long?

Verizon seems to take much longer on products where their private label (droid) competes. Maybe this time there are real problems. I count three failed attempts to bring lollipop to moto x first gen. The most recent was pulled two weeks ago. I'd rather have fewer bugs, but this is silly, Android M will be out in a few months. I fear we won't get it.

Good evening nreiter! I realize how important software updates are in maintaining the best performance of your phone. Have you tried the software repair assistant in forcing the update to go through? http://spr.ly/6582B1a12 or the last resort would be a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6583B1a1N Try these things and keep us posted. Thanks.

As I've stated before, the software update assistant doesn't see my phone so I can't try to force the update.
