Why can my phone not connect to a mail server over my home network even though it connects to the internet? I have home email account and work account set up on my phone and it will connect to the mail server over every wireless network but one. Have deleted the network and readded but to no avail.

TNFred,
I want you to be able to access your email no matter what network or wifi you are on. Have you tired to do a master reset on your Samsung Galaxy S3 yet? http://vz.to/19LN60s I know you stated you were hesitant about trying a full reset because you did not want to lose your photos. Follow these steps to backup your photos before trying the master reset. http://vz.to/1kVfSAV

Hi TNFred,
Let's get you connected to your mail server. What email provider are you using? Are you able to connect when you are not on wifi? Have you tried another wifi network? Did this just stop working for you? Keep us posted.
Thanks, BobbyS_VZW

I was able to get to my email until about 2 weeks ago. It works on any other wireless home network and somehow it is now working at home.

Just to clarify. I could connect to email server (Centurylink.net and Centurylink.com work email) from all networks after setting up my phone. Then it suddenly quit connecting to the email servers from my home network. It would work from any other Wi-Fi network and would connect when out of range of any Wi-Fi network (using cell tower connectivity). I tried to delete one of the accounts from my phone and reestablishing it, deleting my home Wi-Fi connection from my phone and reestablishing it to no avail. Then yesterday, it started working again. I seem to remember a firmware update somewhere around that time. I am just glad it is now connecting correctly. I had already looked at what is required to do a complete restart. What kept me from it was the fear I would lose what pictures I have on the phone itself.

I am really confused by this. It stopped working again last night. What is frustrating about the matter is our IPad pulls in mail just fine over the same home router. And I can pull in mail from any other WiFi network.

This message came in over my phone on my home network. I am willing to do the reset if you feel that is the best thing to do.

Ok. It was painful but I went through the reset last night. Now I have to take care of the settings I had before. 😞
At least my email seems to be working on my home network correctly.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad everything seems to be working after the hard reset.
