Lucid by LG way too hot to handle

Hi.  Was wondering if anyone here is having overheating of their Lucid and if there is a solution..  I have had this phone for less than a week and have noticed that it gets hot when charging and when being used for browsing or apps.  I would like to take it in and replace it but I also want to understand what is going on and if there is a way to fix it rather than not giving it a chance.  I also want to know if mine is possibly defective rather than a regularly occuring problem. (I know if my computer runs hot, it's very bad.  Don't want anything to melt in my phone!)

Thanks!

Exactly how hot is it getting?

You can install an application called System Panel and it will list the temperature under it power listing or you can go to settings > about phone.

It is usually the battery which runs hot. Therefore, I believe that you might have a defective battery. I suggest going to your local Verizon store and asking them to swap out the battery. If it still runs hot with a new battery, than it is the battery connectors in the phone, meaning that the phone is defective.

Thank you guys.Smiley Happy  I just installed the System Panel app and am waiting for it to get hot.  Unfortunately its not all the time so it will be a bit.  Mortb, I was hoping that something wasn't defective but I have done some searching and saw a few articles about how many Androids run hot, including the Lucid.  I will run the Panel and then take the phone in with the information to Verizon for help.

Sorry, don't get on my computer much anymore.  I did find the temperatures for my phone though.  I found the highest temp is around 125 while the lowest in the mid 90s.  It does get too hot to touch;  the back of the phone and the screen are very warm when the temperature rises.  Only hoping its the battery.

Higher than 120°F is a bit high. I can see up to 115°F when I have it plugged to run navigation in the car.

I have only had my Lucid for about 10 days, but I have not seen it get hot at all. In fact, it's run quite cool, considering how much I use it. The thing has been in my hands a LOT while I've been learning how to use it, downloading apps, and such. I'll definitely look at the posts on this in hopes to find any way to keep it from happening, and I will of course, wish you the best of luck on yours...

I actually took it back the other day, telling them the reason.  The person who helped me at Verizon said that it was normal for 4G dual core phones to run very hot (he told me his gets up to 145).  Personally without a fan in this mini-computer, I didn't want to run the chance of ruining the phone or burning my fingers or legs.  I ended up exchanging it for an HTC Incredible 2.  I haven't had any issues and it runs so much better than the LG.  Sad I had to give it up but happier that I'm not having as many troubles.

Hi sfitguy.  I actually returned the phone due to this, bad reception, predictive typing not very predictive and the fact that it didn't charge well (took hours for it to charge).  I don't quite know if its just me having issues with it but if not, I hope it gets fixed!  Glad you're enjoying your phone!
