My phone just updated to 2.2 and now every text message I had is gone. I checked it through Handcent and the stock app, and nothing. MyBackup Pro won't let me restore them either. It tells me the backup file for this phone is not found and if I've changed my phone since the last backup I need to enter the PIN given to me, but it's saying that the PIN is incorrect. What the heck is going on? I'm guessing they're gone forever. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not noticing any huge improvement in my battery life, either, even after uninstalling the task killer I'd been running. Any suggestions on what to do to avoid this problem in the future? This is the second time this phone has eaten all my texts, which is very annoying since I had important info in some of them.

One weird suggestion to try: Remove the battery then remove the SD card. Put the battery back in without the SD card and boot the phone back on. Let me know if you have any luck viewing your messages.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that, but it didn't work.

Thanks for the reply. Have you attempted removing any of the third party messaging apps (Handcent, etc.) as well as any possible application killer?

I did that also with no success.

We apologize for the loss of your messages. When doing a system update we recommend that you try closing third party applications that are running on the device and backing up important content, as updates sometimes cause unexpected results and possible loss of data.
For the problems with your back up file, verify the file has not been moved, this often occurs after an update.
You may have to tweak the power management settings on the device in your settings, and uninstall, and re-install some applications on the device to see an overall battery improvement.

HI,
Can I just say, when it comes to getting your texts and stuff back, you need to consider specialist recovery tools - all other efforts are in vain
The software I tried myself is available here: http://enigma-recovery.com
It recovers from the phone's SD card, so not only texts, but also pics, videos etc.
It got me back my precious data, so hopefully it could do the same for you !

Hi, lg>optimusprime,
You replied to a discussion thread that's over TWO YEARS old. I highly doubt the OP will and respond to your message on the forum.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
