Hello everyone,
I have just been notified that the Ally will be getting an upgrade to a new software version ZVB.
Please do not confuse this with FROYO 2.2 Upgrade! This is a software update for features in the device NOT a OS update.
The update will be done via GOTA (Google Over the Air), this means that the update will happen automatically, the same way the V08 update happened in the past.
SW update start date: 9/17
Schedule: Day 1 - 10K, Day 2 - soak, Day 3 - hold due to weekend, Day 4 - 100K, Day 5 - 400-500K (remaining)
So by the schedule above, all Ally’s should receive updates by next Friday.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Does anyone know when the update is supposed to be complete by? I know this probably sounds dumb but I'm wondering if we are all getting it or just a select few, as I haven't gotten anything yet. And if we are all getting it will it be quick or will I end up waiting a month for it?

Has anyone got it yet? I haven't. My faith in Big Red and my Ally are fading daily........
Not really, but the waiting is getting to me.

Improvements or restrictions?
Not interested and any of the Verizon decided preloaded apps
Backup Assistant works fine.
My Ally already pairs with multiple blue tooth devices.
Camera does need help.
Don’t use exchange and not interested in all the stuff you are forcing on my phone so you can say it works.
There is absolutely no issue connecting the Ally to a pc via a data cable.. Seriously
The Gallery does need help.
Improved Android os security.. Really… it’s android and secure. Do you mean you will take away our ability to root and manage roms?????
Enhanced battery life.. tbd
Improved application responsiveness? Get ADW Launcher. Way better than stock with better memory management.
Verizon you should ask us what we want and need. When this phone 1st came out.
Prior to the 1st update. I could multitask while on the phone. Watch netflix and I was quite happy. Then came update one. A corporate calendar to be used with exchange that didn’t work btw and I lost my ability to multitask and watch netflix.
Now you are not happy with Google’s market place so you are creating your own….
You need to let us “Rule the Air” and not be restricted by a stingy controlling parent.

Does anyone know if this update will solve the issue of the phone occasionally freezing when trying to power down?

Whoa, dude. You're harshing my mellow. Just because all this stuff is working properly on your phone, doesn't mean it does on everyone's. Have you considered anger management?
I, for one, am waiting patiently (NOT!) to get the update. Anything would be an improvement. And if, as they are saying, this update is a stepping stone to Froyo, I'm all for it.

I have recieved the update (9 am on Sept 21 2010)
Negative FOR ME
Preloaded apps- City ID is a monthly subscription and I wish it wasnt forced on me ( the app, not the monthly fee.)
Skype Mobile- I dont want it...I just use google talk.
Corporate Directory- Don't want it either.
Com2US Homerun Battle 3d Now does NOT work. Really LG and Verizon?? My paid apps cant work on your new system??
The Android Home theme is slower, but the LG Home theme is quicker.
History Eraser doesnt work anymore.
You Tube widget says it wont connect.
Positive FOR ME
Faster scrolling, home screen and photo gallery
Battery Life seems better. Worth the update in itself.
Browser seems quicker. Maybe its just me being hopeful.
In conclusion.
If you don't mind a few preloaded apps, It's a fine update.
@tt1080i- you are a freakishly negative person.
@Harley_Chick- hang in there. It will be a fine update, but nothing to get your panties in a bunch over.
