Keeping Your Android Phone Clean: The Basics.

So as I understand it, there are a lot of people who are asking how to keep their new phones clean/good condition. I've owned all the Android phones there are to have, and I can say in full confidence I've never dropped one, they have all stayed in perfect condition. Since the majority of everyone here has either the Droid or the Eris then I'll be discussing basic techniques and care to keep your phones as like-new as possible.

As we all know, the Droid is a hefty device. It feels and looks great in your hand, and with all that screen comes with a whole lot of punch -- and with that increased chances in getting it scratched.

-If you're looking for a screen protector, I suggest anything that has a matte-finished touch to it. Why? It's anti-glare, and anti-smudge as well. This, because we all know, while we're eating, we like to play with our phones. Kids like to play with our phones. People who don't wash their hands like to play with our phones, so we want to keep it in prestine condition from grease staining.

If you ever do find yourself having to clean your screen, I would suggest the old school cloth with warm water. Just one to two swipes on the screen should do the trick, and it's clean as when you got it out the case.

-Avid keyboard users might find their keyboards to be greasy or dirty out of constant use. It can even make it harder to use since the keypads aren't raised. Again, use a cloth with warm water on it to completely clean all grease away.

***Please, for the love of anything good and warm and cute and loveable, don't use any cleaning products whatsoever on yoru phones. This includes Windex, Clorox Disinfectant Wipes, Mr. Clean, or any other mix of cleaning chemicals you or your wife may or may not have created.***

-When charging your phone, I encourge you to keep your phone from sitting on anything that is cloth. Cloth conducts heat extremely well, and it can put your phone in danger of overheating. If you need to leave it somewhere while charging over night, do it on your computer desk, Via USB, or a dresser next to your bed.

-Constantly taking your SD card out/putting it in, can wear out the reader over time. I suggest that you always use the USB-to-computer way to transfer files. That way it's not being removed so much.

-If you find your camera to be smudgy, or the lens not taking good quality pictures, try cleaning the top lens (on the back of the phone) with the bottom of your shirt, not too hard where it'll break it, but firm enough that it will rub all that nasty goop out.

Phone slowing down? I suggest trying to stop some processes that is eating away at your phones internal memory. You know that corporate e-mail you'll never use? Stop it. That game you finished playing? Stop it. Anything you feel like you're probably not going to be using again for a while, stop that process. I suggest Advanced Task Manager.

Thanks. To be honest, both phones are wonderful but I prefered the Droid. The screen is huge. Faster processor. More Internal memory, and it's just such a sleek device.

There has been great debate on if an app like this is necessary....

There is no debate if a person's IQ is over the average bear.
