I'm looking to create yet another smashing thread, so I really am eager to find out if there's anything that I can write out for you all concerning your Droids/Eris's (Well something that you guys already haven't found out yet :smileywink:).

So I'd appreciate a good general idea/problems that you guys are experiencing that need some cracking down on.

***This is not an open invitation to "Mike I need halp on this or that." If it's that important shoot me a message and I'll get back to you ASAP**

Cheers!

Here are the questions I have written down to research:

Where are all of these 10,000 apps? I have found the Market from the phone. Is this the only site where apps can be downloaded to the phone?

Can the available apps in the market, all of them, be viewed from somewhere other than the phone, such as a PC?

How I do I know if the phone is using CDMA or Wi-Fi to download something. Often I will receive a network unavailable message when examining the market or downloading an app as I only have one bar in the house. I go outside where I have a better signal, and things work fine. In my house it would be better to use Wi-Fi.

In light of the above how do I force the phone to use W-Fi only?

Can the Search app be moved to the screen where all the other apps are rather than on one of the Home screens?

Can the Search be turned into a button instead of the wide search box and magnifying glass?

How do you organize songs in folders rather than as one long list?

If the onscreen keyboard is on the screen, how do you get rid of it?

The market can be viewed on your PC at http://www.android.com/market/ . I believe that almost every app can be found on Market. When you open Market in the top right corner is a maginfying glass. Use this to search apps. If you press the back button you can get rid of the on screen keyboard.

For the wifi in you house, try an app called Locale. This will turn the wifi on when at home and turn it off when you are not at home.

I'll try to answer a few of these for you Chipps.

Yes the Market place is where you download the apps. Don't think there are anywhere close to 10,000 though.

www.androlib.com  and www.android.com/market will show you a lot of the apps but not all or most recent. But you have to get and install them through the Marketplace using the phone. Plus depending on your phone version of Android I think the Marketplace shows only the apps compatabile with your version (but I'm not 100% sure on that)

I use wifi in the house with my N router and 3G when I'm on the road.

There is a setting in one of the menus to set wfifi to always on. Same with 3G.

Sorry don't know on either of your Search questions.

To organize your songs you have to create the folder(s) in Windows using your computer's file manager while the phone is connected to your PC.

I hit the back key on my Eris to get rid of the keyboard. This may not be the best/right way but it works for me.

The Android Market on the web just lists a few, not all of them. For example right now the only two links on the page are Top Paid and Top Free.

It would be much easier to be able to purchase the app on a web page, then have it downloaded to the phone. So far, due to connection timeouts, I have been unable to purchase anything through the phone.

I have Wi-Fi on in the house. I am connected to it. The problem is the phone appears to only try the 3G link, which is almost nonexistent inside the house, rather than the Wi-Fi connection. What I need to be able to do is to turn of 3G to force it to only use W-Fi.

I did create folders for the music. The phone ignores them and lists all of the songs in one long list.

Use www.androlib.com as stated above then. It has all the apps, and can be narrowed down better then Market on your phone. There is also a bar code for each app, just need Bar Code Scanner app. This will let you phone go directly to this app to download so you don't have to search around.

As far as turning off the 3g, I don't know if you can turn off the "phone handset" like you could on a WM phone. Will check into that for u. I would think if you have wifi on it should use it.

I'm having issues with the Gallery app. Everytime I go to use it, it force closes on me. Is this part of the Droid's camera malfunctioning? Or a different issue entirely? And, most importantly, is it solvable?

Thanks!

olinrich, just export contacts from Outlook. Then go to your gmail account, contacts, and select import. Just browse to where you exported the file and there you go. On your phone you may need to do a sync. Go to settings, accounts, gmail, menu button, then sync.
