I believe that while a 16gb model sells more because of the lower cost. I also believe that's not supposed to stop vzw or any wireless carrier from ordering at least a few of the 32gb or 64gb models. Especially when vzw, and other carriers, know that a particular phone doesn't come with an expansion slot.

And last and not least. There are some people that can afford the 32gb and 64gb models.

Thanks for the link.  I use the google music which I use on my 3 android devices and use the google music app to play the music from the sd card all the time.  I usually never stream from google unless there is something I have at google which I have not copied to my devices.  I guess that is just my issue though.  Again thanks for the link.

Thank you for the reply, The only thing holding me back as well is the low internal memory on the preorder version available now. Unfortunately many applications and the some related files can only be on the internal memory. If you offered the 32gb or 64gb version (in my dreams), I couldn't throw money at you fast enough.  But I also understand the masses will probably never get close to filling the memory on the base version as well.

I have to agree. I'll be waiting to see if/when a 32/64GB version is available. Thankfully, I'm a patient person.

I can not help but notice that people are assuming that because the S3 32gb is being retired is due to sales.  Per corporate reps, it actually sold BETTER than expected.  The reason it is being retired is to make room for newer devices and position the S3 16gb as an entry phone for that segment.  $99 with 2yr contract. No point in doing that with the 32gb version.

At&t is apparently going to stock the 32gb and the 64gb (online only).  Though I doubt the 64gb will see day in the US, the 32gb seems obvious given the 9gb of storage on the 16gb.  Verizon will lose customers if they do no also offer the 32gb.

BTW Verizon,

Please tell your staff to STOP telling customers they can install apps on the sd card.  You can not and is misleading at best and lying at worst.

Dear Jennifer,

I appreciate your response to my question, but unfortunately it doesn't help me.  I am stuck in a decision-making limbo.  What had previously been simple and clear, is now murky and without guideposts.  I had shopped carefully and done my due diligence and come to the decision that I would use my contract eligibility to purchase the Galaxy S4 with either 32 or 64GB internal capacity depending mostly on price.  I had a well thought out and well researched reason for this.  As Rushmore69 stated in his/her response: *You can't put apps on an SD card or The Cloud*.  The memory types are not interchangeable.  That is why the phone offers both types of memory and that is why on forums all over the Android community people are freaking out because they are more and more frequently using up the internal capacity of their 16GB (in reality about 9 usable GB after OS and pre-loaded, undeletable apps) phones as both apps and upgrades take up ever increasing amounts of space.

I have read over and over again anecdotal quotes from "Verizon representatives" who have told people (as you basically told me) that with the SD card capacity you don't really need more internal memory--why, you could have a "whopping 80GB". That is WRONG and is either ill-informed or dishonest.  Whichever, perpetuating this erroneous assertion does not speak well of Verizon. Can the decision-making "bottom line" executives at Verizon really not understand these simple concepts??

People need, and are going to be looking for, larger capacity phones.  That's the real bottom line.

Also, thanks for the link, but as I tried to say in my original question, I am not a "latest and greatest" type of individual, on the contrary, I am an intelligent shopper and so, I will not be buying the Samsung Galaxy S4 with only 16GB.  At this point, as I survey my alternative options, Verizon's silly unwillingness to give its customers a simple "yes" or "no" is one of the only points I have to steer by, and that points me away from this ridiculously gamey company.

Maybe, I'll just give up and buy a tablet, for now--of course that would mean a considerable amount of time before I could upgrade my phone. Or maybe I'll move to a "provider" who provides what their customers want.  I thought about just taking second best (in my opinion) and buying the higher capacity HTC One, but whatdayaknow, Verizon doesn't carry that either!

I have appreciated the coverage, but eventually other providers will hopefully catch up, and then will Verizon be forced to communicate with its customers (assuming they have any left)?  I guess we'll see, but in the meantime, Verizon is building a lot of ill feeling among both current and potential customers.

Again, thanks for your response.  I don't hold you responsible for your ignorance. I've come to understand that Verizon doesn't communicate much, if any, better with its employees than with its customers.  I believe that you don't have any better idea than I do whether or not Verizon will eventually sell the 32 or 64GB Galaxy S4s.  And maybe you care about my distress, but come on, you must know that Verizon does not.

I am ready to upgrade, but no 32GB is a deal breaker for me.  32GB should be the memory standard in 2013.  Looks like I may be looking at AT&T, they have confirmed a 32GB version will be available.

Excellent and well written response.  I fee EXACTLY the same way.  I have even threatened to pull my account and go to AT&T, a company which seems to have all the new phones (S4 32GB, HTC One, etc.) as well as the advertising campaign and transparency.  Verizon's inability to communicate to even high level employees is extremely frustrating.  When I DID threaten to pull my account, to Verizon's credit, I received two seperate calls from District and Regional Managers offering me things.  Ultimately, however, they still couldn't address the issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VERIZON WAKE UP PLEASE!!!!!

Of course not. Those guys can not just order 32 GB version of the GS4  just because you want one. Samsung makes carrier specific versions and if Verizon didn't order any 32 GB models then there is nothing anyone can do about that. You're also dismissing the possibility that at&t has exclusive rights to 32 GB version of this phone. So if that is the what is Verizon supposed to "wake up" from?
