have noticed lately when I Power Down my Droid  it does not stay shut down or Off  ?

I thought it was Off and when I look in the am  it is still ON?  I found that strange

I tried it today and 3 times I press the top button ,,,select Power Off  ,,,,It vibrates and goes to Powering Off and screen goes black.

I tried to make sure it is off   after  5 minutes later and it is still ON..

I did this 3 times and it did the same thing  After the 4th Powering down  it finally is Off

Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?

What do you think? Thanks

This is a well known glitch with Gingerbread on the Droid X.  The only way to turn it off and be sure that it will stay off is to pull the battery.  Go to the Droid X section on these boards...it's been discussed ad nauseum.

-Edit-  Found this:

GO TO SETTINGS

  1. BATTERY & DATA MANAGER
  2. BATTERY MODE
  3. Change it to PERFORMANCE
  4. Go back to settings
  5. WIRELESS & NETWORKS
  6. Turn off WIFI (doesn't appear to be necessary on all phones)
  7. Then shut the phone down.

Try that...it seemed to work for "some" people.  Another suggestion I found was to turn it off, then back on, then off a 2nd time. That worked for some.

As I said, it's a glitch with Gingerbread.  Good Luck.

Are you doing this while plugged in?  I think most motorolas automatically power up when plugged in.

No I am not  just battery powered

That is interesting   73 views   and only one reply    yours  on this subject or issue  Thanks tho

I got more information for my issue  off of Google than this Droid specific  forum?

May need to look elsewhere   Usually  this is a great site     Hmmm

if anyone had a possible solution we would post it. however....this seems like a faulty phone. my only advice would be to exchange it if it is still under warranty. it doesn't sound like a software glitch or anything like that. if it's just randomly turning on it seems like a hardware issue.
