I am unable to use data while on a voice call. Am I missing a setting or is my phone having issues?

I have the Sony Xperia Z3v. I just got it a couple weeks back and have now realized that when I make a phone call I am not able to use data. I am not able to surf my browser or use any application that uses data, while I am on a call. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the comments. After some more search, and disappointement with my switch to Verizon, I found out that the Xperia Z3v does not support it with Verizon's current service. One goo review for this phone is at. Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v review | Android Central.

He is the quote that made me .

  • No, you don't get simultaneous voice and data, at least not without VOLTE. Which the phone doesn't yet have.

Hope this get a fix sooner rather than later, or I may be switching back!

Most phones do not allow you to do both unless your connected to wifi

I have a hard time believing that. I have owned 3 other smartphones in the past, before this Sony Xperia Z3v. All of them were with T-Mobile and I was always able to use data while on a call, off WiFi. I am hoping that this is a Verizon complication and that it is just a setting or malfunction.

It depends phone to hpone.  Like apples can not go on internet while talking on verizon.  it is something they are working on.  i have a note 3 on verizon.  i can talk and surf web at same time.  it just depends on the phone and software

The issue you are experiencing is because of how Verizons network works. It has nothing to do with the phone. The change to Verizons network is supposed to be coming in 2015. So for now you must also be connected to WiFi for data and voice to work simultaneously. I know it works on Tmobile and ATT. They use different type networks. This issue is

frustrating for Verizon users.

Well actually it does have to do with the phone and the network.  There are certain phones on verizon that you can talk and do internet, and there are certain phones that you cant.

From what I have read this issue is with CDMA networks like Verizon is. ATT and Tmobile are GSM networks
