Call customer service, 800-922-0204, choose option 4 (Other), then say "Agent" at the voice prompt. When the live person comes on the line, tell him or her you want to cancel the insurance. It will be effective that day, and you will only be billed the portion of the billing cycle that has already passed and the insurance has been in effect.

Good question in that if you signed into a contract with Verizon and took insurance with that contract at the time, is the insurance portion still binding? Or can you opt out of the insurance only?

Yes, you can opt out (cancel) the insurance at any time. It's not part of the contract.
