How do I download photos from my pc onto my samsung stratosphere phone

I just got married and would like to download the pictures from my pc onto my samsung stratosphere phone to show off our wedding!  I have searched UTUBE and even my verizon, but haven't been able to find the information I need to do this transaction.  Is there anyone out there who can advise me on how to make this happen?

Seriously Lost in Stratosphere,

Scott

The most basic and simplest technique is to connect the phone to the PC using a USB cable. The power cord that comes with the phone will do -- just disconnect the cable from the cube at the end, and you've got a USB cable that will connect your phone to the PC. Before plugging it in, go to the Home screen, then press Menu > Settings > USB settings. There are a couple of things the phone-PC USB connection can do. You can either check Ask on plug to get the list of options every time you connect it, or tap USB mode and select Mass storage mode as the default. Mass storage mode means that the phone's SD card will look like any other USB drive to your PC.

Once you've got that set up the way you want, use the USB cable to connect to any USB port on the PC in Mass storage mode. You'll get a not-terribly-attractive screen on the phone with the Android guy logo in orange holding a USB connector, indicating your connection status. On the computer, the phone will show up as a new drive letter (or possibly two) in Windows Explorer. On my system, I get one drive labeled "Verizon Mobile" and one just labeled "Removable Disk." The latter is the one you want. Click on that drive letter and you should see the phone's SD card storage and folder system. There'll be a folder called DCIM. That's where pictures have to go. You can drag/copy the photos from your PC to that folder; or you might want to click on the DCIM folder first and create a sub-folder in it to hold the pics, which will make them easier to find in the Gallery app on the phone.

Once you're done, be sure to follow standard Windows procedure to safely remove hardware and "eject" the drive. After you've done that, tap the "Disconnect storage from PC" button on the phone. The Android guy will turn green, and you can unplug the USB cable, which should take you back to your Home screen.

Congratulations on your wedding, and enjoy the photos! BTW, there's a pretty complete Strat manual available online and for download at http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/stratosphere/stratosphere.pdf.

There are a few other ways to transfer files between a PC and a phone that doesn't involve using a USB cable (which is generally the easiest).

If you are a bit tech savvy, you can use FTP over WiFi if you have a router. Download the SwiFTP server app from the Market onto your phone. Download an FTP client program like FileZilla from the internet onto your PC. There are guides on the web that discuss how to set them up.

I like using that method because it avoids unnecessary cycles to the micro-USB connector.

Alternate means: you could also email them to yourself, or you could use Bluetooth Transfer.

I do not recommend removing an SD card from your phone and putting it in a reader connected to your PC. The SD card slot in your phone is not designed to have SD cards installed and removed from the phone  on a regular basis...
