How do I add some kind of web content filter to the LG Lucid 2 ????

Just switched over to Verizon and I have to say I'm a little frustrated with a specific problem I am running into.  My 15 yr old son has a LG Lucid 2 and when I went to My Verizon it's showing that I cannot add any kind of content filter to that specific phone via Verizon Wireless.  So what I am left with is trying to find an app that will work to block specific content via the web browser.  This is EXTREMELY frustrating and a big deal.  Verizon should have the ability to offer parental control/content blocking on EVERY device they sell.  My son typed in "Gamer Codes for Oblivion" and got a nice big ad on 3D Monster Porn.  Please tell me this is a work in progress for Verizon and if any of you have found an app that will block porn effectively.

Thank you,

Concerned Momma

Doesn't exist. The content filters that DO exist don't block porn effectively.

You have given your son a pocket computer to use. If you don't trust him to not view content you do not approve of, you should not get him a device capable of viewing said content outside your supervision. Even if you do trust him not to view content you don't approve of, he's 15, realize he's going to view it anyway, and sit down and have an earnest talk with him about the topic so he can make decisions as an educated soon-to-be-adult instead of a testosterone-infused hormone sack.

There are a number of browsers available besides the stock one that comes on the phone. It's possible (but I don't really know) that you could find one in the Play Store that includes content filtering. I did just look at Opera, Dolphin, and Firefox there, and none of them mentions that it has this. In any case, that would still be dependent on your son not figuring out how to unblock it, and on somehow disabling the stock browser so he can't just use it instead.

Thank you for your candid thoughts.  I didn't actually portray this in the above mentioned post but we have a fairly open means of communication with our son and we are all aware that he will have the urge to view/look at porn simply because of the raging hormones running through his body but as a mom I am simply trying to decrease the amount of temptation thrown in his face...lessen the amount of inner battles he has to fight.

Good to know that you're able to communicate with your son about such things. I just read a story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about an issue that makes porn ads look like the least of one's worries. It concerns sexual predators who troll social media sites using fake personas to exploit teenagers. The story is here. You may have to click a link to read all of it, but it's definitely worth looking at. Makes me glad my kids are adults and I didn't have to worry about this stuff when they were growing up.

Dear Brook1119,

Good morning. As a mother myself, I know how important it is for our children to have content filters on their devices. Especially, if inappropriate advertisements are popping up. It would be my pleasure to address your equipment concerns.

Have you tried using the content filters that we offer online via My Verizon. Content filters work with some smartphone devices. To check if your LG Lucid 2 is compatible with Content Filters and more information regarding Content Filters click http://vz.to/NuSMRv.
