How can I turn off notifications on my Droid Maxx?

I followed the directions to go to "Active Display"-- but I see no
manage notifications", which is supposed to be there. What can I do to turn off facebook notifications, particularly? They are coming in every minute--crazy!

You can turn of Facehook notifications via the FB app settings.

Go to your FB page, click small arrow on the blue bar on top of page, settings, notifications, then top option How You Get Your Notifications and uncheck play a sound when notification/message is received.

If the previous suggestions don't help, go to settings > Apps > Facebook > and un-check notifications

There is another setting in the Facebook app that will let you uncheck or unsubscribe to the notifications.  The notification you change is the software notification for new versions of the software.  You need to dig around and you will find notifications for friends posts, emails, new friend requests etc... I will look at the app tonight and see if I can get you more direction on where to go to get it but it is hidden pretty good.
