when I picked up my new phones, the salesperson mixed up the phones and gave mine to my daugther who promptly set up her gmail account before the error was found. Now I need to change the account to mine, but I can't find this setting.
Does anyone know of how to change the gmail account settings (other than resetting the phone to factory defaults)

As far as I know, the only way to switch the Gmail accounts would be to factory reset both phones and promptly place the correct Gmail accounts on said phones. Your contacts/downloads are saved through your Gmail, so you don't have to worry about losing them.

You do not have to do a factory wipe. Goto settings>applications>manage application> scroll through and find all things google (gmail, gmail storage, google apps, etc.) and clear the caches/data of each. DO NOT uninstall these programs. Once you clear all the data/caches, reboot and go into your gmail account and you will be prompted to re-enter your gmail account.
