You go to all programs, select clock, select the little icon on the bottom that looks like a clock, you set the alarm, making sure that the little box has a green arrow in it.  The problem I am finding is my alarm isn't very loud.  I have set the volume all the way up, but it still isn't very loud.  See what you think!

I amhaving a similar issue with my Eris currently.

I had previously set my alarms to use loud mp3s from my music library as alarms.  This worked perfectly, for a few days.  Now my alarms will not activate any sound when set, even the stock audio files that came with the phone.  The only alarm functions I can use are the vibrate and the flashing LED light, which do not work well as alarms.  I'm currently trying to find support for the issue, but if I can't find anything, I'm going to backup my contacts and perform a hard reset to try and resolve it.

I was having this issue too, after alarm was once working fine.   Found answer to this issue in another forum (posted by "adsum")

Once you have decreased/silenced volume on phone (like ringer) the alarm volume is reduced/silenced also, but does not change as you increase volume or return to old volume levels.

Alarm volume must be selected when you choose your alarm tone. Once you select your alarm tone, then use the rocker "up" to increase alarm sound.  You will hear your selected alarm tone once the volume is increased when you set alarm.  This will solve the problem.

This is an issue that needs a permanent fix from HTC -- if master volume is returned to prior levels, so to should the alarm levels.  Its a definate flaw.

How do you set mp3s as alarm sounds?  I'm a pretty techy guy, but I can't seem to figure out how to use anything other than the built-in sounds for alarm tones.

I don't know about the Eris, but I created a folder on the SD card called "alarms", stuck an MP3 in it and it showed up in the ringtone list for the alarm clock.  I had to reboot to get it to show up though.

One thought, and this might not be the issue at all, but if you are plugging your phone into your computer at night, and Mounting the SD card, the phone is not able to access data off of the SD card while it is mounted and will not produce a sound if you are using a custom ring-tone, or alarm sound that is stored on the SD card.

It's just a thought here...

Also, any chance you are somehow corrupting the data on the SD card by not doing the "remove USB device" routine on your computer, THEN going to your phone's pull-down menu and telling it to unmount the SD card before disconnecting the data?

Ooh, nice tip!  I wish this was documented somewhere.  I'm definitely going to load some custom alarm tones, because the ones on the device itself are pretty lame, and not nearly loud enough unless I remember to crank the media volume all the way up every night.
