It seems to be stable if I remove all updates to Maps and revert it to its factory installed state. Anybody have a better solution?
Grab the newest version in the Play Store, Google fixed the Maps issue. And it's Ice Cream SANDWICH.
I've been avoiding upgrades, since every time I install one on top of the factory software it crashes the OS (and then I strip off the upgrade), but this time it may have worked, so, yes, they may have fixed it. Cautiously optimistic; thanks!
There have been several reports (and I haven't seen any to the contrary) that the newest version works, so you should be fine. If course, if you do have issues with it still, you can always uninstall the upgrade again.
