Galaxy Note 2 OTA update destroyed my battery!

So I accepted the OTA update for my Note 2 yesterday morning and throughout the day saw my battery drain RAPIDLY. Previously I was getting 30-34 hours on a single charge. Now I get 8, EIGHT! Wifi is off, power saving is on, display is dimmed.  This morning I took my phone of the charger at 6 am and at noon it's dead. Last night I did a factory reset at Tech Supports suggestion and no change.

I removed all my apps this morning, again at tech supports suggestion, and no change. The phone has been rendered useless after two months of great performance.

They are sending me a new phone, but I'm going away tomorrow for business and the stores don't carry replacements for the Note 2 (SERIOUSLY??)

My phone is not <Deleted> and was working fine before the security patch, but now I can't use the phone at all. Very upset is an understatement. VZ has screwed me once again.

Once again Verizon's updates screwed up a perfectly good phone.  DO NOT ACCEPT THE OTA UPDATE.

after the their scary but forced OTA so-called security update, my note 2 is rendered useless. Why did they have to do this? My battery drains so fast, as if I've been using it a lot. I charge 100% before I go to bed, and in the morning 50% charge is gone. I stopped using live wallpapers, I turned of all syncs, limit processes usage to just 4, brightness to dim, GPS turned off, Location services turned off, all third party apps uninstalled, widgets removed, Power Saving Option turned ON, nothing is working to improve battery life.
Before the update,  I had all those things running that I removed and battery would last for two days even after vigorous usage,  now it seems Verizon deliberately bricked my NOTE 2.. am so upset..

My battery is also draining more quickly since the security update but the difference is much less pronounced than yours. Maybe lasting 25% fewer hours. I think letting the battery drain completely (till the phone shut itself off) before charging several times in a row may have helped.

When the Samsung Stratosphere got an OTA update last year, a number of people reported battery issues, but others stated that such a major update takes a few days to settle in, so to speak. During this period there is extra power draw, causing more rapid battery draining. Once this period is over, battery use should return closer to normal. Or so they say. Assuming this is in fact the case, Verizon should definitely make users aware of it in advance of the updates.
