Galaxy Note 2 Multitasking

I would like to know why Verizon decided to break the multitasking feature? From people I have talked to on other carriers that have the note 2 they can add additional apps to the multitasking dock. On the Verizon version when you go to edit, you only have the option to change around the apps that are already on there. If this is not the case then please enlighten me on how to do this. If this is what happened then this is a major **** up that needs to be fixed. This is one of the main reasons why I purchased this phone.

I think it will be fixed in an update, but I've watched a few videos of the Sprint model and it seems that one is just like ours, but they have more apps loaded on the tray than we do... but I haven't seen anyone be able to add more apps on that model.

I absolutely agree!!!! This is why i purchased the phone as well, this is def not cool and it needs to be fixed!! THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! As all of the videos for this phone shows that you can do more than the apps already there. As a paying customer I demand an answer. I'm thinking about returning the phone as I am not please.

How is it false advertisment? 90% of the videos regarding the Note II are the unlocked European model. Every US carrier has their options on the software. If you look at the other US models, you will see that most are very similar and some do have more options than others out of the box. For all we know, the multi-window app add feature may not even exist in the certain models meaning its Samsung's design... not a carrier issue. Just relax and see what happens. If and now that there is a demand for change, I would almost bet they are working on a fix for it as we type. Sammy and Google won't let it fail if there is a solution available.

There are currently not enough apps that support split screen feature in the Galaxy Note 2.  However, popular apps like Youtube, Gmail, Google Maps, Facebook, and Chrome Browser do support the Multitask feature.  Customers from  Verizon competitors have no issue with the Multitask feature, but we do as we are unable to do a split screen, for instance, Facebook and Youtube. We are limited by the option to chose only from the apps that already come with the phone in order to use this split screen.  Like other disappointed customers on this post, this is the main reason why I got this phone. Verizon should definite fix this issue because the phone loses one of its main unique multitask purpose.  I thought some people where not bright for switching from Verizon to T-Mobile, but as the complaints or reasons pile up now I see why.

I would gladly hang onto my Verizon device before I ever went with T-mobile.... what good is multi-tasking when you have no service to use it with. Just my 2 cents.

I too am frustrated by this lack of feature. I hope and expect Verizon to remedy it soon. It IS one of the main reason's I purchased this phone yesterday. It must be a software option that Verizon can easily update with Samsung. I look forward to them taking care of us and updating it ASAP.

Just wanted to add the following info since I have physically used two of the other Galaxy Note II variants and disagree with all the Verizon bashing going on here. If you don't believe, I invite you to Google this for yourselves or, if it helps any of you psychologically, head into the other carriers' stores and confirm this for yourselves.

1. T-Mobile has launched the Galaxy Note II completely without the "Multi Window" function: my brother asked me just yesterday to set up this feature on his T-Mo Galaxy Note II because he couldn't find the feature on his one day old phablet. I bought my VZW Note 2 yesterday morning so, I had at least my device for comparison. I can inform all of you with 200% certainty that the T-Mobile has launched their version without Multi Windows; there is no setting in Settings> Display> General to enable/disable Multi window as there is in the Verizon Galaxy Note 2. I even spent 54 grueling minutes with T-Mobile's outsourced Customer Service in hopes of obtaining some information for him; their (T-Mobile's) suggestion was to contact Samsung because they had no idea of what "Multi window" was and it didn't appear in their User Manual so, they really couldn't comment on the matter.

2. Sprint's Galaxy Note II does have "Multi Window" and has the same setting to enable/disable as the Verizon Galaxy Note II and, while it is true that their version has two or three more apps' in the task bar, you are still restricted to the apps' already preloaded in the task bar; you can "Edit" to the extent that you can remove, reorganize or replace the same apps' in and out of the "Edit" board. I can confirm this because my brother's best friend has the Sprint Galaxy Note II and I compared it to my VZW GN2 and my brother's T-Mo' GN2!! Brace yourselves, if you don't live in a Sprint 4G LTE market you only get 3G on your Sprint Galaxy Note II.

3. AT&T Galaxy Note II is also rumoured NOT to have "Multi Window" functionality at all but, it's the only iteration that I have not personally and physically tested. For everyone expressing negativity and venting, Verizon is the only carrier in the U.S. with "Multi Windows" on their Galaxy Note II, as well as, 4G and LTE. The ability to edit the task bar with other apps might very well depend on developers updating their apps' to support "Multi Windows" in the Galaxy Note II, therefore, it might be app' dependent.

Thank you Verizon for my Awesome Galaxy Note II!!
