Can the flash memory in the droid be used for applications like the rom memory. I have programs that need to use main memory and I need to make sure that I have enough main memory. I am unsure what droid flash memory does.

It is officially coming soon.  It may be part of Android 2.2 but it might not be quite ready yet.  Judging by the Incredible they have at least figure out how to boot 2 memory chunks.  Eventually the idea is to be able to have 2 or more SD card spaces.  Currently there is still no app installation on the SD but we have known for a while they were testing and working on it and now it is officially in the coming soon status.  We should have it by the end of the year.
