Droid Maxx won't pair with 2005 Prius Bluetooth

My 2005 Prius recognizes my new Droid Maxx and even pairs with it, but when I attempt to make a call it doesn't work.  I got it to work a few times, but it's not consistent.  When the car starts it says it has paired successfully, but then i can't make or receive calls.  I've tried deleting the phone and reconnecting it, but that doesn't work either.  After reading the forums it seems like this is a problem for other people as well.  Suggestions?
