Droid Eris - Trouble connecting

We recently replaced our two phones with the Droid Eris.  We bought them at a kiosk in a mall.  After having the device for only a few days I had trouble obtaining a signal right after charging the phone.  After several attempts we took it to the local Verizon store.

Typical messages:

"Sorry, The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."

"Sorry, The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."

They informed me that kiosk was not an 'authorized dealer' but they were kind enough to replace the phone with one of their own at no charge.  This was terriffic in my opinion as I could have been taken to the cleaners.

However, the replacement phone is now doing the same thing. Right after charging the phone from an outlet it does not recognize a phone signal/or WiFi.  For the last several minutes my phone has been in a cycle of turning on, cycling through to the main menu, then rebooting (for lack of a better term).  I'm starting to think the Droid has more bugs that need to be worked out.  What are the odds of me finding two completely dysfunctional units?  Yes, I can reload from a back-up, and restore the unit by using the functions to reboot the system, but should I really need to do this every week after charging the phone?  Something seems terribly wrong.  My old Verizon Palm Treo was simple and **bleep** but actually worked.  What gives?

Suggestions?

Have you installed one of the "antivirus" products from the market?  If so, uninstall it.  I think you will find your problems go away.

You are right, the chances of two exactly the same disfunctional units is extremely unlikey, however you installing the same pice of bad software on two units is pretty hight :smileyhappy:

If you don't have AV software installed, try uninstalling your other software one by one until you find the bad program.

I would have to agree with BKFist. Although keep in mind that not just the antivirus apps can cause this issue. Home screen replacement apps among others  also tie into the acore and gaps processes. Try removing all apps/ facory reset and then charge and see if the problem comes back. If it doesnt, you know an app was the cause. Then you will just hace to install your apps 1 at a time until the problem happens again. You will then know which app was the cause.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'll have to try and see if this works.  I did not load any antivirus software app yet but I did load a bunch of other apps.  I'll have to see which one(s) it seems to be related to.

I love all of you in this thread sooooooo much. yesterday I had my first sizable drop of phone and then late last night I turned my phone off, back on and got all of these errors msgs and had no service ect. I thought it was the drop and started freaking out, as I have no warranty/ insurance on it.

Saw these suggestions and uninstalled my Lookout AnitV  along with all of the new apps from that that day, rebooted and she's running smoothe again!

Thank you all for the help!
