Droid Eris Gmail Account Change

I have the Eris and it was setup with an old gmail account I need to change.

Any idea how I change it?

I'm talking about the actual gmail widget, not the regular mail one where you can add other email accounts.

As far as I can tell, the only way to change Gmail accounts is to factory reset the phone. Sync your contacts then wipe the phone. when phone reboots, input the new gmail credentials.

I haven't tried it, but on the MOTO DROID, if you go to Settings > Account & Sync Settings and select the Gmail account, it will let you remove the account.  Then, I assume, you can add the new account back in.  I'm not sure how Android 1.6 handles it on the Eris though.  I'm guessing from tsauter's reply it's not that easy though. ?

That particular menu option is specific to Android 2.0 and doesn't show up on the Eris.  He will have to do the factory reset.
