Download the free Astro file manager from the market. In the menu there's an option to backup your apps to the card. Theoretically, you shouldn't need it, but it's good to have in case something goes wrong while re-downloading them from the market.

Someone said that the moto droid update was pushed out 1,000 on the first day; 0 on the second; and 200,000 every subsequent day. I wouldn't be suprised if they did this again.
