Droid 3 101 Question: Privacy/Anonymity/Blocking

I can find no place to block my own phone number when dialing or to not accept phone calls from blocked numbers.  I keep looking for the options and can't find this.

I believe that both of these are things that need to be set up as part of your calling plan.  I have never, that I can recall, seen settings for these within android's settings.

I'm on the same "plan" I was before when I had my Blackberry.  There was a menu option in Blackberry to block my own number and to accept/not accept my number.

I guess it's odd moving from one piece of hardware to another and finding that so many features disappear when one moves to more "advanced" equipment.

It's clearly superior in so many ways, but I also seem to have lost features, too.  The biggest thing is synchronization, which appears to come with the same phone that comes from other carriers, but not Verizon.  Go figure.

What isn't synchronizing for you? Contacts and calendars sync via Google and other methods that I haven't explored yet.

I remember my Moto Razrs having the ability to block your number on an outgoing call, plus much better notification reminders, something that Android has been sorely lacking without 3rd party apps. Things that are so basic as far as phone features go.

rickyg-It is so true, it takes some time getting used to one operating system (Android) coming from another operating system (Blackberry).

The Android devices do NOT have the ability to restrict your number showing up on caller ID within the settings like the Blackberry does. Thanks to Wildman for suggesting the apps from the market place you can install.

If you want to restrict your number showing up for ALL of your outgoing calls, we can set that up here in Customer Service with a free Caller ID block service.

If you want to block  "Private" or "Restricted Numbers" from calling you, you can also sign up for Usage Controls

I hope we were able to address your concerns with these different options that are available to you.
