If the phone was ever improperly programmed or the OS was modified outside of normal methods, then the updates would fail.

I had a Samsung that would not update its OS and had to warranty exchange.  And then, that replacement wouldn't update either.  So, I considered it stuck until upgrade time.

I have never gotten my SWA to work correctly.  I have a post about this that has not been answered as of yet as well.

  The system version you posted 9.18 is at least 10 versions out of date. Have you tried going to menu > settings > under the System heading and click on System updates? To see if that updates? Then try to install Android KitKat 4.2, it seems the xt 926 supports that OS.
