Hello, All.
I am trying to figure out why my phone will not update to the newest version of Android or how to resolve this issue.
Here are my specs:
System version: 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Model number: DROID RAZR MAXX HD
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: VANQUISH_BQ_100730.151.64.17P
Kernel version: 3.1.31-gef7deb8
Build number: 9.8.1Q-94
Build date: Wed Sep 25 15:13:00 CDT 2013
Here's the issue. I get the notification to update to KitKat (4.4.2) and so I download the update and press the install. It reboots my phone and starts the update. It gets to about halfway when the little Android animation falls on its side and displays a red triangle above him. My phone reboots again and when it loads, it shows a message saying that the update failed. There is no more information - just that it failed.
Is anyone out there having the same problem I am having? I've searched the Internet at no avail. All I've found are issues after the update.
Is there another way of updating my system that I don't know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

CandeeX5,
Consider yourself lucky. My husband and I both have Droid Razr Maxx HDs. We were both "upgraded" to KitKat about six weeks ago, or so. KitKat took away my Swype program, which I dearly loved, also took away the colored icons at the top of the main screen. My husband's phone will no longer automatically connect to his 2013 Ford pickup ("Ford Sync") like it's supposed to. (Everything worked fine with Jelly Bean...we both wish we had it back).
Keep your Jelly Bean!

I've had nothing but problems after downloading to Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 on my Droid Razr MAXX HD. Swype disappeared. My texting at times becomes extremely slow, waiting and waiting for words to load. My battery life is almost nonexistent now, won't even last a day. I have a friend who has the same phone, did the upgrade and is having the exact same problems. I too wish I had never done the update!! And my upgrade isn't until next April.

SharRN,
We want you to be able to enjoy your device again. Have you tried to use your device in "Safe Mode" to see if the issues persist? http://vz.to/1jTu23f

Lindsey,
Tried it in Safe Mode. Phone won't even work, keeps flashing pop up box
"Unfortunately, your Homescreen had stopped" and you press "Ok" and it just
keeps popping up again.
You download the update, thinking it will enhance your phone. After over a
year, I don't want to to be told I have to do a Reset. I'd rather just be
allowed to upgrade/renew early. It's very frustrating considering how much
we pay a month for all our phones.

Sharon ,
Thank you for giving that a try. A factory data reset would be the next step. I know you are hesitant to do this, but we can make it easier to restore the phone after it is erased. Do you happen to use Verizon Cloud? It's a great app that you can download from the Play Store and it'll save all of your contacts, pictures, videos, music and documents. If you do not recall your Gmail address and password please take note of them before doing the reset. Then, follow these steps http://vz.to/1hdnWdK to reset your phone. Often times doing this after a software update will resolve any issues you're having.

I have the same issue. Bought the phone used, reset to factory original. Tried at least a dozen times when the notification pops up. Also tried it in safe mode. Nothing works.

Not a clue. But Verizon has been offering the Droid Maxx for free! That is a good deal any way you look at it!
