Clock App nonsense

I wonder what luddite wrote the Clock app that Verizon insists on loading on every Android phone they sell?

Who ever heard of a Clock app that does international times but cannot do UTC/GMT?  This has to be the height of incompetent programming.

There are plenty of aviation apps for that.

There are plenty of just plain Clock apps for that as well.  But the issue is why would Verizon choose to load a Clock app that does not worl properly and have that app locked so you can't drop it in the trash where it belongs.

The clock on my phone and tablets works fine.  I have another application for aviation.  Maybe someone paid to have their app loaded.

You'll have to be more specific, each manufacturer includes their own clock app

Well it wouldn't surprise me that Verizon would sell the space on my phone to the highest bidder regardless of whether the app worked or not.

That doesn't make it any more pleasant to have an app that I can't delete taking up memory because someone offered Verizon one-tenth of a cent to put their garbage on my phone,

At least the Clock app is better than Verizon's own apps that fill the phone with completely worthless garbage because Verizon had already abandoned those apps before I ever got my phone.

This particular clock app is on a Verizon Samsung Stratosphere II, so far as can tell it is part of the standard VERIZON bloatware, unrelated to the manufacturer's clock that appears on the face of the phone.

If you are referring to the clock widget shown on page 22 of the user manual for the one on the face of the phone, that is Samsung's contribution as a part of the phone UI called TouchWiz.

Without seeing exactly how it works, the Clock app referred to on page 78 could either be the stock Android app by Google or a customized version modified by Samsung.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Well, so far as I can tell, it is the clock app mentioned (with no details) on page 78 of the manual.

Regardless of where it originated, it has two attributes that are common to Verizon apps and are both very annoying:

1) It does not work well

and

2) It cannot be removed, deleted, or uninstalled.

The combination of those two attributes are characteristic of Verizon bloatware.

It does not work well for you!  It could do everything I need.  You are speaking broadly here for others.  Anyway no one says you have to use this.  Anything that comes on your phone can't be removed and it sound to me the way you are talking you already know that and are just venting about this.  If you wanted to remove it then you have to do it other ways and I am sure you know what that would be.  Thank you for letting all of us other users know your dissatisfaction with that clock on your phone though.  You have a good day
