Can't find the app on my Stratosphere

Of course, I have been having the same problems with the FF1 update as so many others.  I purchased two Stratospheres

last month just before the dreaded FF1 update.  We loved the puzzle piece, too.  Then the update and all the problems.  The

screen display on one of our phones mysteriously turns on and off while sitting on the table.  I've check for notifications, WiFi,

messages, but it just seems to be random.  Yesterday, the began another update.  It took 4 hours to download which

decimated the battery.  We took it into a Verizon Store and they verified it was an update.  They charged it and sent us on our way.

Wow...we could have done that ourselves, thank you.  When I look at the firmware version...it says 2.3.6...isn't that the

problem FF1? Sighh...

Okay, so I have an easier question...I hope.  I downloaded a QR code reader from the Google Play app.  It says

it's been installed, but where is it?  I looked everywhere...even within the camera setup.  I'm supposed to have a

"My Apps" folder?  Is there a way to download an app to a particular folder?  Can someone help?

Sure hope we don't have to deal with demanding a new device.

I think pretty much all apps should be in the app tray or drawer, or whatever it's called, that you go to from the Home screen by pressing Apps. I don't think there is a "My Apps" folder. You can't download to a specific folder, but once an app is downloaded, you can create folders in the Apps display and arrange them that way, or put a shortcut on a Home screen, or create a folder on a Home screen and put app shortcuts in it. You start by pressing and holding the app in the Apps display; this will create the shortcut on the Home screen.

Sorry if all that is obvious.

WRT the screen display turning on and off while the phone is just sitting there, that's normal -- it's just syncing the calendar or something.

Thank you for responding, Dave.  I couldn't find it in the apps screen. I didn't check to see if it was really installed before I posted my question.  But it doesn't seem to be installed when I check the Application Manager under settings.  Still, Google Play tells me it's already installed.  Huh.

Re: on and off screen...we haven't set anything up in the calendar.  When I look at what is taking all the battery, it shows that it's the display screen.  Changed from Live Wallpaper to a static picture...still takes up 50% of battery use.  Grrrrr.

I'm really thinking that I want to replace this device with the Samsung Nexus.  Can't afford to buy it, but the Stratosphere has been very disappointing so far.

Strange about the QR app. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?

A number of people have found the Strat to be problematic. I've got one and I like it pretty well, though the update was a waste of time, IMHO. It seems to me that Samsung's manufacturing and testing processes leave a lot to be desired with this phone, since a fair number of people can't get them to work well.

I concur. The poster should go into the Google PlayStore, search for the app. Then if it says Installed, uninstall it from that window (should be an option to do so). Exit the PlayStore, then re-enter the PlayStore and re-download it.

There should be an downward pointing arrow indicating the app is downloading.

Exit from the PlayStore. Long press an empty spot on the desktop. Choose Add Shortcut. Choose Apps. Scroll all the way down to the Qs (where it is most likely to be). If it isn't there - scroll more slowly. You'll find it.

I don't know of a QR reader that installs itself into the camera app. Rather, it might call on the camera to image the QR code block so it should be it's own App, and like I said, most likely listed under the Qs.

Also the poster needs to scan the App Drawer. There's most likely an icon for it, and most likely on the last page of apps. Smiley Happy

Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your responses. I appreciated you taking the time to help out!

@lalionne50,

I can definitely understand how frustrating it must be to not be able to access your App after the software update. Have you tried performing a hard reset since the update?

Sometimes it's a good idea to perform the hard reset after a major software update. Once you have completed the hard reset re-download the Apps and see if you're able to access them.

Keep me posted if you are still unable to access the App.

Thanks everyone for all your help.  I downloaded it again and no problems.  It showed up in the App Drawer.  Seriously, it was

not in the App Drawer in the first time even though Google Play said it was already installed.  Works just fine, too.

My sister's screen display still uses 38% of her battery.  Mine is fine.  No idea why they are different.  I see no extra notifications that should trigger the display so often.  I've downloaded the same apps on my phone.  Her battery is lasting much longer, however.
