When turning off the phone at night, the battery indicator may show 1/2 a green light. In the morning the battery is completely drained. The phone will not turn on until connected to a charger.
What could be draining the battery when the phone is off?

I believe you have a bad battery.
Nothing can drain the battery that fast while it's not in use.

Just wondering....hm have you installed any apps recently? Maybe the app is defective & draining your battery. Otherwise if no,then most likely battery is defective like M3lton said

I'm not implying anything but I sleep in the same bed every night and so the charger is on my night stand and every morning my battery is completely charged. Not to mention the Droid stays on all night in case some one has an emergency need to call me in the middle of the night.
By the way, the "media dock" or cradle or whatever they call it turns the Droid into a great alarm clock while it charges.
