Any ideas why I am not receiving group texts from certain contacts?

I have an Android phone (currently the Pixel, but this issue was also happening on my DroidMaxx) and in group text threads, I do not ever see/receive texts from certain contacts. I have noticed it with 2 people currently. I am able to text them individually, but do not get messages from them if they are in a group conversation. They are able to see my texts in the group message. Interestingly, 1 of the 2 problematic contacts just switched to Android from an iPhone, but the second problematic contact just switched from to an iPhone from Android. Any ideas?

Are their responses to the group going into the thread on your device under their contact information?

I see their contact information listed under the "People in this

conversation" at the top of the thread.

Ok. How about when you look in the thread that you use to text ONLY that person? Do you see responses to the group in there?

Also, if this is a group of people that you talk to regularly like this I would suggest the GroupMe app. It is free.

Nope. I don't see it there either.

Would everyone need the GroupMe app in the conversation or just me?

Are you using a specific application for the group conversation or the default text application that came with the phone?

Not everyone would need it as the group messages will go to their phones as texts. It is definitely easier if all users in the group have it.

Jenniehi06, I want to make sure that you can send/receive text message from anyone in your contact list without any issues. How long has this issue been going on? Have you tried to delete these contacts from your phone and re-add them back in the device as a new contact? Have you also tried to delete the group text and start a new group text? Please keep us posted.

Hello,

This has been going on for a few months. I deleted and re-added the problem

contacts, I deleted the conversations and started new ones, and I even got

a new phone (not because of this issue, just to upgrade). The only way I

have figured out how to get group texts from all contacts is to use Google

Allo instead of the default messenger app.
