An android phone that performs well with calls?

Hello all, looking for advice.  I am eligible for an upgrade in August.  I need a phone that performs well as an actual telephone.  I have been told that most smart phones are deficient in this area.  I use my phone a lot for business and I must have a phone where the clarity is good, there isn't a bunch of squeaking sounds in the background or a lot of static.  I have suffered with the Galaxy Nexus for a year and half.  Any call longer than five to seven minutes will go bad.  It's been a very frustrating experience.  Hoping to get some feedback from others who use their phones for calls.  Thank you.

One review I saw that broke down phone features then rated them on just those features had the Apple I5 and Motorola Droid Razr HD one/two for call features and qualty.  BTW your Nexus was rated 14th.

I bought my HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE  just because of that.

I have to agree. I have preferred the quality of the calls I made with my Tbolt over ones made with my Nexus.

I've been very pleased with the clarity and ease of understanding callers on my Droid 4 (Motorola).  I can't answer for any other Android phone from experience-the Droid 4 is all I've had.

in general, motorola tends to be the best for actual phone calling, followed by htc and then samsung. of course, different models may perform better or worse. i've had 2 htc's (the original incredible and the tbolt) and now i have a samsung note. all 3 have provided excellent call quality.

The HTCs and the Motorola mentioned are good, if not excellent choices for voice/call quality. You can check out both "expert and user reviews on the voice/call quality of cellphones online. These are the websites i go to before buying a cellphone;  Cnet.com, phonearena.com, phonescoop.com, theverge.com

Go with a new samsung device. S4 or galaxy note 2. Crystal clear compared to my old thunderbolt.
